A few days ago, I happened to catch sight of a jolly yellow warbler bathing (or playing) in the water. He plunged right into the shallow stream, splashed around, after that flew up on a branch preening, singing, then splashed right back into the water and do it all over again just for the fun of it.
I’d like to tell you it was a bright, sunny day, inviting a cooling summer splash. But I can’t because it wasn’t. The day was grey, overcast, chilly even and with a thunder storm in the forecast.
This tiny warbler’s joie de vivre defies the gloominess of the day or any imminent storm… a mighty hard lesson to learn from a three inch creature.

The warbler was the bright spot of sunny yellow for your day!
They always take my breath away when I see them—vivid sunshine yellow !
Thank you 🙏

What a beautiful bird. I don’t see them here, but that vibrant yellow is glorious. It’s such fun to watch bathing birds. I think you’re right that sometimes they dabble in the water just for the fun of it.

I think that warbler made your day a little sunnier! He’s so darned cute, all soaked and wet like that! And so cheery. I rarely see birds play in water. I’d like that.

Sweet! What great photos you captured of this pretty birds joy! We have not really seen summer here yet, either. Lots of rain and little sunshine. We are hoping that the benefit will be a shorter fire season!!

Our summer actually isn’t that bad. There have been ups and downs in temp. That day was one of the downs. So, this yellow bird really picked me up. 🙂

Yes that was cute and the next moment just sang his heart out. That was wondrous and deadpan too.
